Our schedule of events is still in progress. Check back for updates.
Veri Phone App
Michael and I have created an event on Veri, a smartphone app. If you download the app (for free!) and join our event, you’ll be able to automatically share your pictures with us. You can turn sharing off and on at anytime. We hope you do it!
Friday, October 6
Oyster Dome Hike, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Open to everyone. Get a view of the amazing Straight of Georgia and the San Juan Islands on the most iconic hike in Bellingham nestled in the Chuckanut Mountains along Bellingham Bay. It’s a 5-mile round-trip hike with about a 1,000′ elevation gain, comfortable for the infrequent but step-happy hiker. Check out some photos and more trail info at Washington Trails Association’s website. Meet at the trailhead at 10:00. For those wishing to skip the first set of switchbacks you can also find the trail from the Samish Overlook (which has a remarkable view even if you don’t want to hike at all).
Squalicum Boathouse Dinner & Dance Party, 5:30–11:30 p.m.
Open to everyone. Join us for a hosted evening of food trucks, karaoke, dancing, and hobnobbing at the Squalicum Boathouse in Bellingham. Mobile vendors Simmering Tava and Back East BBQ will be on-site serving food and beverages. This is a BYOB event if you want more to drink than the trucks will have to offer. Drop by for quick hello or spend the evening with us getting hoarse on 90’s pop music. Dress warmly—you’ll likely want to go for a walk around the pier or spend time outside, and it can be windy.
Saturday, October 7
Morning Bike Ride
Kevin’s Cousin Billy has generously offered to organize a bike ride on Saturday morning as a pre-wedding warm-up activity. We will depart from Fairhaven Bicycles on 11th Ave at 9:45 a.m. The route will take us along the water on the South Bay Trail to the marina then through downtown to the farmer’s market and back along the water. It’s just an hour leisurely riding time with lots of beautiful stops along the way. There are a limited number of bikes available to rent for Sheraton guests and through a rental shop in Fairhaven. If you are interested in participating, please write back ASAP as it will be first-reply, first-ride. Local riders with your own wheels are encouraged to BYOBike.
Ceremony & Reception, 4–10 p.m.
The wedding and reception will take place at Lairmont Manor, dinner and drinks to be served. Dress attire is semi-formal. (Think dress shirts, sport coats, and party dresses–not tuxes, suits or gowns.) Michael is a pathological optimist; Kevin suggests bringing an extra layer for an October wedding in the Northwest.
Parking at the site will be limited but sufficient. We will have a parking attendant. Carpooling with friends and family would be appreciated.
The format for our “deconstructed” wedding flows between ceremony and reception with the feel of an early autumn garden party. For those who desire a bit more detail to plan their evenings, please refer to the following schedule of events:
4:00 Arrival & Greetings
4:45 Welcome & Invocation
5:00 Mingling & Music
6:00 Ceremony Act I
6:15 Dinner & Toasts
7:15 Dessert & Dancing
8:15 Ceremony Act II
